Wright Montgomery Welton Jr., of Oldtown(Kiefer),Maryland passed away September 15, 2021 at Fox Trail Senior Living in Stephens City, Virginia.

Wright was born May 31, 1934 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Wright and Harriet Jeanette Wierer Welton. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps from October 1954 to October 1957.

Wright’s career and retirement was from PPG Industries where he manufactured glass. He loved the outdoors, cars, and animals.

Wright married Norma Jean Bean on January 21, 1955.

He is survived by his three daughters Linda Jean Welton of Oldtown, MD, Vickie Ann Grogg and husband Dale of Paw Paw, WV, Diane Adair Thayer and husband John of Whitaker, VA. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Timmy Waugh, WC Wilson and Zach Wilson plus five great grandchildren.

Wright was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma on June 18, 2021, three siblings, and one grandson, Aaron Lee Waugh.

All services for Wright will be private. He insisted on leaving this life with as little fanfare as when he entered. The body will be cremated per his request.

I had the privilege of spending time with Wright during my early years at PPG. Little did I realize how he would influence me throughout my life. He gave me many life lessons, particularly understanding human nature. I'm sure many have their favorite Wright quotes. My favorite is "Don't ever lose your sense of humor; never stop laughing." A week before Wright passed, I was telling a friend of mine about him. Of course I discussed the quote: "I may be wrong, but I'm always Wright." I'll miss you, Wright; but the guidance and insight is your legacy to me. Rest in peace, brother.
