Winifred L. Pingley
Winifred Lucille Carper Pingley, 90, of Frederick County, VA died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at her sister’s home in Gaithersburg, MD.
Mrs. Pingley was born in 1921, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Grover and Rosa Mae Carper. She was a Cafeteria Manager at James Wood High School, retiring in 1987 after 27 years of service. Mrs. Pingley was a lifelong member of the Round Hill Presbyterian Church where she served as elder, taught Sunday School and sang in the Parish Choir. She was also a member of the Winchester V.F.W. Post 2123 Auxiliary.
She married Albert Blake Pingley on November 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2004.
Surviving are three sisters, Gladys Carper of Frederick County, Virginia, Betty Dunn of Winchester and Shirley Henry of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gretna Williams and Louise Robinson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Dr. George Nichols officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cris Dunn, Scott Dunn, David Creighton, Mike Creighton, Andy Hannan and Phil Pingley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Pingley, Jeremy Hannan, Joshua Creighton, Quin Corbridge and Sam Hunt.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
