William Walter Beck, Sr., 87, of White Post, Virginia, died Friday, February 16, 2018 in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Beck was born in 1930 in Bristol, Virginia, the son of the late Walter and Meta Beck. Bill was a US Army veteran and was employed at Federal Mogul as a mechanic retiring in 1995. He was a member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church in Stephenson, Virginia for over 60 years and was a member of the Methodist Men. Bill was a man of few words with a quick wit and sense of humor. He taught himself to play the guitar and loved music especially Country and Bluegrass. Bill loved his church and family. He was a sweet and caring man who will be sorely missed.
Mr. Beck married Ruby Lee Baggerly on January 30, 1954 at Opequon Presbyterian Church.
Surviving with his wife of 64 years is a son William Walter Beck, Jr. (Cathy) of Greensboro, North Carolina and daughter, Meta Lee Platt (John) of Winchester, Virginia. Grandchildren, Hannah Lee Beck of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Lacey Catherine Beck of New York, NY. Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Stephenson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, 1943 Jordan Springs Road, Stephenson, Virginia with Pastor Steve Melester Officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia. at a later date.
