William “Billy” Ray James, Sr., 69, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. James was born in 1948 in Loudoun County, Virginia, the son of the late Campbell and Lillie Mae James. He was a graduate of Loudoun County High School and retired from Loudoun County Sanitation in 2010. Mr. James enjoyed gardening, classic cars and was a true Chevy man. His greatest passion was his family, especially spending time with the grandchildren. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather that is missed.
He married Birdie Mauck on January 4, 1971 in Frederick, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife of 47 years are daughters, Katina Butcher (James) of Winchester, Virginia and Deana Marie James of Roanoke, Virginia; sons, Michael Allen James and William Ray James, Jr. “B.J.” (Amy) both of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Miranda, and Cassie James of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; Sierra and Destiny James of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Dustin, Devin, Elizabeth and Hailey Butcher of Winchester, Virginia; Connor James of Roanoke, Virginia; great grandchildren, Jayden Jordan, Caroline, Landon, Elliott, and Olivia Butcher; sisters, Gladys Crosen (Walter) of Warrenton, Virginia, Ruth Jackson (Tiney) of Stephens City, Virginia, and Linda Jacobs (Robert) of Leesburg, Virginia; and brothers, Edward James of Purcellville, Virginia, Eugene James of Fork Union, Virginia, and Robert James of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 am to 11 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 11 am with Pastor Kraig Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
