William R. Cooper
William Ray Cooper, age 83, of Edinburg, VA, died Saturday, January 1, 2011, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA.
Mr. Cooper was born in 1927 in Greenville, SC, the son of the late Houston N. and Katie W. Cooper. He was a sheet metal worker and member of Local 100 in Washington, D.C. where he was recognized for 50 years of continuous good standing service. He was a former member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge, and a 1944 graduate of Sullivan High School in Kingsport, TN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II with the rank of F 1 Class, and he was a recipient of the Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal.
He married Lottie Rosalie “Rose” Warner on April 13, 1963 in Fredericksburg, VA.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and leaves behind his wife of 47 years; four children, Robin Revels and her husband, Allen, of Springboro, OH, Rosa See and her husband, Christopher, of Winchester, VA, William “Billy” Cooper and his partner in life, Tracy Rosenberry, of Front Royal, VA and Jeffrey “Bo” Cooper and his partner in life, Michelle Kerns, of Strasburg, VA; six grandchildren, Allen Revels, Ashley Revels and Brittianna Revels, Ariel Cooper, Megan See and Walker See; a sister, Mary Lou Callahan and her husband, Charles, of Kingsport, TN, a brother, Bobbie Lee Cooper of Luray, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Cooper and a brother, Dean Cooper.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 3:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be Friday, 11:00 AM in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA, with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to the service, from 2:00-3:00 at the funeral home.
