William P. Shepard

William Page “Bill” Shepard, age 72, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Shepard was born in 1939, in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of the late John Joseph and Isabel Lock Shepard. Bill was an orchard manager for Moore and Dorsey, Inc., Berryville, Virginia, having over 57 years of dedicated service, retiring in 2001. He was of Presbyterian faith. Bill was also an active member of the Stephens City Moose Lodge # 2483. Bill was also well known as a local beekeeper for over 25 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He married Doris Jones on August 22, 1975, in Williamsport, Maryland.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his step sons, John William Likens, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, of Strasburg, Virginia and Tony Alan Likens and wife, Tina, of Clear Brook, Virginia; three grandchildren; TJ and Katlyn Likens, and Josh McDonald, a brother, Stuart Shepard of Winchester, Virginia, as well as several nieces and nephews. A brother, John Shepard, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Mr. David A. Owings officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be, Tupper Dorsey, Bobby Campbell, Butch Mathews, Terry Dennis, Chip Mathews and T. J. Likens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
