William N. Buhl
William Nelson Buhl, 88, of Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Buhl was born in 1922, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Charles William and Emma Elizabeth Buhl. He was the owner / operator of Qwik Shop Market on Papermill Road for 20 years, later employed by Jno. S. Solenberger and Co. Mr. Buhl was a member of VFW Post 2123 in Winchester and a former member of Winchester Moose Lodge 1283. He was a John H. Handley High School graduate, Class of 1940. Mr. Buhl was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, having been wounded 13 days after the Landing of Normandy. In addition, he received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
His wife, Gretna Louise Williams Buhl, whom he married on April 4, 1941, preceded him in death on May 21, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Shelvy Bayne of Winchester, Bonnie Kirk of Florida; son, Ronald Buhl of Frederick County, Virginia; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday at Shenandoah Memorial Park with dear family friend, Donnie Carter, officiating. Military Honors will be afforded by VFW Post 2123, Winchester, Virginia.
