William Lewis Eaves, 86, peacefully entered into eternal life on 21 April 2025. William was born on 13 May 1937 at home in Augusta County, Virginia to James Albert and Obelia (Freeman) Eaves.
He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winchester, Virginia. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and found joy in serving others as evidenced by his many hours of charitable work.
William joined the Army in 1955 and then transitioned to the Reserve Officer Corps of the Air Force as a helicopter & jet airplane pilot. In 1966, he joined American Airlines and retired in 1996 as a Captain. He traveled the world with American Airlines and shared his love for travel and adventure with his family.
William is survived by his wife of 34 years Maureen Denny, his children Linda Webb (Ron), Michael Eaves (Charlene) and Karen Zabel (Tom) and his stepchildren Anthony Thomas (Sharon), Karen Atwater (Andy), Kevin Thomas (Alicia), Keith Thomas (Pam), and Sean Thomas (Krista) in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a Mass held at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Winchester at a later date.
His family celebrates the lasting legacy of faith in the one true God, love of all people, and hope of eternal life with God the Father.
