William “Larry” Lawrence Etheridge, 60, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on April 22, 2026, at his residence.

Born on March 16, 1966, in Florida, he was the son of the late Wilmer Dwight Etheridge and Marlene (Gailey) Etheridge.

Larry dedicated much of his life to his work as a custodian with Valley Health in Winchester, where he faithfully served for over 30 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication.

A man of Christian faith, Larry had a deep appreciation for history and enjoyed spending time as a historian in his own right. He also found great companionship in his beloved cat, “Fat Cat,” who brought him comfort and joy.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and patriotism.

He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Johnson of Oregon and his aunt, Jean Tucker of Winchester.

Oh dear sweet Larry you will be greatly missed. I remember many mornings you would come by the NICU with a great big smile and jokes. I remember you showing me this very picture a few years ago you were so happy recounting the day. I will miss our morning chats about your beloved cat, newest crockpot recipes, history, current events and movie recommendations. Rest easy my dear friend. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthian 5:8

As a co-worker and friend you will be missed. I enjoyed talking with you each night at work and the couple time we hung out together. My heart is saddened and I will miss you my friend. Until we meet again.

Larry was a great friend with a good soul that not everyone got the chance to know. He taught me a lot about history, music, and life in general. I'll miss our night shift talks at the hospital and going out for breakfast. He truly was a unique and special person and I will really miss him.

I’m surprised and saddened to hear of Larry’s passing. Jamey and I were just talking about Larry and planning to reach out to catch up. This obituary captures him so well. I’ll remember Larry for many things, but especially for his quiet, steady dedication to his work. He was a private person who always spoke so highly of his aunt Jean, and we felt lucky that he wanted us to meet her and we were able to share a dinner with her. Larry was a unique and special person, and I’m grateful to have known him.
