William “Bill” George Meadema, 86, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away at his residence.
Mr. Meadema was born in 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Samuel J. and Pearl L. Meadema. He graduated from Western Michigan University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Bill was a salesman and retired from American Seating Company. He was also a realtor and co-owner of Mead Relocation Services. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy having served with the Dental Corps during the Korean conflict achieving the rank of Petty Officer.
His wife, Lois M. Meadema, whom he married on August 17, 1985 in Westlake, Ohio preceded him in death on February 21, 2002. He is survived by his first wife, Patricia Mead, who resides in Naples, FL.
Surviving is a daughter, Lynne Meadema-Mayer and husband, Michael of Solon, Ohio; sons, Dr. Samuel J. Meadema and wife, Rebecca of Danville, Virginia and William C. Meadema and wife, Allie of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Mayer of Solon, Ohio, Samuel Meadema and wife, Sheri of Sterling, Virginia, Benjamin Meadema and wife, Vicki of Arlington, Virginia, W. Ross Meadema of Bay Village, Ohio, Sarah Monroe and husband, Mark of Bay Village, Ohio, Lucy Hill and husband, Chris of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Peter Fletcher Meadema of Blacksburg, Virginia, R. Brad Turner of New York City, Abby Steketee and husband, Steve, of Evanston, Illinois; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Jean Reed of Muscatine, Iowa.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
