William “Dan” Gill
William Daniel “Dan” Gill, 65, of Middletown, Virginia, died Monday, July 21, 2014, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Gill was born in 1948, in Leesburg, Virginia, the son of the late Charles W. and Vava Gill. He was a graduate of Loudoun County High School, Class of 1967 and National Louis University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mr. Gill was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of E-5. Mr. Gill was a Telecommunication Engineer with Verizon, retiring in 2003.
Mr. Gill was a member and Past Master of the Spurmont Masonic Lodge #98 and Olive Branch Lodge #114. He loved golfing and the Redskins. Formerly a Baseball Scout for the Cincinnati Reds, Dan was also past President of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department and Central Loudoun Youth Football League.
He married Linda Camille Partlow on October 6, 1968, in Ashburn, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Catheryn M. Compton and husband, Duke, of Stephens City, Virginia; son, David C. Gill and wife, Susan, of Middletown, Virginia; grandchildren, Michael G. and Mallory L. Compton; Emma K., Kylie E. and Tyler A. Gill; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Celebrant Joseph R. Dilleree officiating. A reception will follow the service at South Chapel.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Robbie Cole, Teddy Reed, Billy Reed, Lee Partlow, Tom Cooke, Tom Southerly, David Lowry and Eddie Jones.
