William Allen “Billy” Underwood, 83, of Gainesboro, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. William was born in 1935, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Ella Dove and Walter R. Underwood. Billy married the love of his life, Patricia Lockhart on January 22, 1959, in Hagerstown, Maryland. He is survived by his wife, Patsy, 3 daughters, Diana Turner (Terry), of Winchester, Virginia, Terry Feltner (Larry) of Gainesboro, Virginia, Jackie Carbaugh (Louis) of Stephens City, Virginia, sister, Virginia Wheeler (Bill) of Wallace, North Carolina, and seven grandchildren, Michael Turner, Mark Turner, Tommy Turner, Tim Feltner, Wayne Feltner, Daniel Carbaugh, Cristie Carbaugh Cuthrell and 9 great grandchildren.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert Underwood, Randolph Underwood and Lewis Underwood and sister, Betty Underwood.
Billy proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Gearing and USS Dealey. He worked for Pine Motor Company, Clarke Motors and Parson’s Kia.
Billy enjoyed being outdoors working on projects. He married the love of his life and loved his 3 daughters with all his heart.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Hospice team, Dr. Milligan, Kelly, Donna, Angel, Mary Ann, Sharon, and Chaplain Ken Patrick, for the special care they gave our husband and father. Also to the Shenandoah Oncology, Dr. Houck, Jr., Dr. Jones, Kendra Atherton, Rodney Huff, Brittany, Laurie, Pauline, and personal physician, Dr. Chris Craig.
Graveside services will be private.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy’s grandchildren, Michael Turner, Mark Turner, Tim Feltner, Daniel Carbaugh, Cristie Carbaugh Cuthrell, Wayne Feltner, and great-grandson Christopher Turner.
