William Abbott Cosby
William Abbott Cosby, 77, of Front Royal, Virginia, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Cosby was born in 1932, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of the late Osmond Franklin and Mary Agnes Cosby. He worked as an engineer with the National Academy of Sciences and later founded The Academy of Home Building. Mr. Cosby was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and the University of South Carolina where he received a B.S in Mechanical Engineering.
He married Judy Jordan on January 23, 1965, in Washington D.C.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Tammy Ugarte and husband, Juan, of Linden, Virignia; two sons, Richard Cosby of Front Royal, Virginia and Brandon Cosby and wife, Victoria, of Haymarket, Virginia; three grandchildren, Farrah Taylor, Julia Cosby and Lindsay Cosby and his brother, Glenn Alan “Bud” Cosby and wife, Joyce, of Winchester, Virginia.
One sister, Betty Jo Thurman, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
