Willetta Marie McDonald Sours was born on August 4, 1944, in Winchester Memorial Hospital to Albert A. McDonald and Elvira Marie Pifer McDonald (Litten). She was one of four children to include Daniel A. McDonald (Beverly), Nancy Heimburger (Ronnie)- both predeceased her, and Douglas McDonald (Sherry). She is also predeceased by her stepmother, Sylvia Marie McDonald.
She was married to Dennis V. Sours for 53 years. She had one son, Randy Orndorff (Lee Anne) and one daughter, Dawn Sours Sandy (Jeff) along with five grandchildren- Joshua Orndorff (Michelle), Jordan Orndorff, Brandon Sandy (Emma) and Travis Sandy (Sabrina), five great grandchildren Julian, Orion, Titus, and Maylisa Orndorff, and Ophelia Sandy. Her granddaughter Kelsey Jean-Marie Orndorff predeceased her.
Willetta grew up west of Stephens City just off Middle Road at what is known as Buffalo Marsh. She grew up on the farm picking peaches and apples for Kenneth McDonald and her father Albert. Over the years she worked at Middletown Town Hall as Town Clerk, 76 Petroleum as Bookkeeper and Receptionist, as well as Perry Engineering and Winchester Building Supply. Work would also take her to WUSQ102 as Business Manager and VTC in Stephens City.
One of her prouder moments came as she received her high school diploma later in life at Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy having not been able to complete high school at James Wood.
Willetta grew up in the Church of Christ-Valley Avenue. Then later The Assembly of God- Pleasant Valley. More recently she watched services online from Aldersgate UMC. She enjoyed canning, traveling, the Apple Blossom parade and other festivals, and shopping.
She enjoyed traveling and attending grandkids ball games and school events.
She enjoyed coloring, reading, crossword puzzles, murder mysteries, British TV, and going to country music and blue grass concerts.
She was easy-going, faithful, and loved her family. She especially loved her many cats over the years.
A public graveside service will be held on Friday September 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Panorama Memorial Gardens, Strasburg, VA, officiated by her son and grandson, Pastors Randy and Joshua Orndorff.
