Wendell J. Carlson, 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his home in Stephenson, Virginia.
He was born in 1935, in Elgin, Illinois to the late Oscar and Belva Carlson of Barrington, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Carlson; four sons, Shawn Carlson, Forbe Carlson, Rene Carlson, and Lyle Carlson; one daughter, Narla Breithaupt; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Carlson of San Antonio, Texas.
He was a member of Victory Church in Winchester. He was always busy in the Lord’s work and served as deacon at Victory Church and other churches in Florida and Virginia.
He retired from the RF&P Railroad in 1997 but came out of retirement to serve as Maintenance Supervisor at Patrick Henry College where he worked for several years.
He helped at the Victory Church food pantry for twelve years. He was known by all his friends and coworkers for his clever, clean sense of humor.
The service to celebrate his life and God’s faithfulness will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 23rd, at Victory Church, 2870 Middle Road, Winchester, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Victory Church Food Pantry, 2870 Middle Road, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
