Wanless G. “Chip” Smallwood
Wanless Grant “Chip” Smallwood, age 84, died Monday, August 26, 2013.
Mr. Smallwood was born in 1928 in Berryville, Virginia, the son of the late William Walton Jr. and Alma Smallwood. He grew up in Berryville Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Winchester. He was a 1946 graduate of Berryville High School and attended Virginia Tech. Mr. Smallwood served in the U. S. Air Force. He worked for most of his career in retail food sales management. Mr. Smallwood was a member of the Northern Virginia Senior Softball Association.
Surviving is his son, Joe Headley Smallwood and wife, Megan, of Bedford, Texas, and grandchildren, Abraham Smallwood of China, Rachel Smallwood of San Antonio, Texas, Cammie Hatcher of Hurst, Texas, and Daniel Smallwood of Bedford, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Scott Smallwood; sisters, Janice Rocap and Garnet Goodson; brothers, William Smallwood III, and Glenn Smallwood.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday at First Baptist Church in Winchester with Pastor Joe Smallwood officiating. Interment will be private.
