Walter H. “Sonny” Bursey, Jr.
Walter H. “Sonny” Bursey, Jr., 76, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Bursey was born in 1933, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Walter H. and Mary E. Bursey. He was a retired Loan Officer with Farmers and Merchants Bank then BB&T Bank, having served for thirty-eight years. He was a member of the VFW in Front Royal, and the Izaak Walton League. Mr. Bursey was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1953. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy.
He married Linda Curl on September 10, 1960, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Dawn Burkhart of Winchester, Virginia; son, Darrin Bursey of Berryville, Virginia; four grandchildren; and his sister, Susan Eadie of Lawrenceville, Georgia. One sister, Sandra Morton preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Mr. David A. Owings officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Burkhart, Chad Tyson, Christopher Tyson, Charles Tyson, Jay Presgraves, and Mack Carper.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
