Virginia V. Bittle
Mrs. Virginia Voelker Bittle, age 85, of Winchester, VA, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center. Mrs. Bittle was born in 1926 in New York, New York, the daughter of the late Henry F. and Therese H. Voelker. She was retired as a school teacher from the Lynchburg City School System. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lynchburg, the Lynchburg Retired Teachers Association, and Pedlar Mills Garden Club. Mrs. Bittle was a graduate of Roanoke College and held a Master’s Degree from University of Virginia.
She was married to John W. Bittle who preceded her in death on March 15, 1993.
Surviving are three daughters: Patricia Bailey and husband, Jerry, Betsy Pullen and husband, Tom, and Terri Ramsey and husband, Rodger, all of Winchester, VA; six grandchildren: Gretchen Homan ( Andrew), Michelle Herzog (Dan), Ian Long (Sherri), Jason Bailey (Megan), Stephen Ramsey, and Sean Ramsey; four Great Grandchildren: Brett, Sadie, Luke, and Hudson; a sister, Norma Odom (Raymond) of Springfield, VA, and a sister-in-law, Catherine Sizemore of Clarksville, VA.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy B. Long.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Floyd Addison officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service on Saturday.
