Virginia Palmer Loy
Virginia Palmer Loy, 79 of Winchester, VA, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester.
Mrs. Loy was born in 1930 in Hayfield, VA, the daughter of Elizabeth Foster Palmer Boswell and the late Silas Palmer. She was a homemaker, worked for the National Wildlife Federation, Shenandoah Apples and White House Foods. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Fellowship Church and a graduate of Gore High School.
She married Calvin G. Loy on September 12, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD.
Surviving with her mother of Hayfield and her husband, are two sons, COL. David G. Loy, of Winchester, VA, and COL. Michael L. Loy and his wife, COL. Ellen Forster of Fairfax Station, VA; two grandchildren, CPT. David A. Loy and his wife, Kim, and Dana G. Loy-Anderson and her husband, Michael, all of Richmond, VA; three great grandchildren, Toni Shelton, Gracie Loy and Hawk Anderson, also of Richmond; a brother, Joseph A. Palmer of Winchester, and numerous beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, William H.D. (Sonny) Palmer.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Rev. Anthony Wadsworth, Rev. Glenn Welch and Rev. Mark Ransom officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, VA.
Pallbearers will be Connard Loy, James Loy, Douglas Loy, Barry Carper, James Renner and Michael Witt.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
