Virginia Dare Smith, 77 of Berryville, VA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Ginny was born in 1947 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Ray and Winifred Shiflett. Ginny was a member of Welltown United Methodist Church. She dedicated much of her life to volunteering with local organizations and charities including Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Friends of Belle Grove, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a member of the Master Gardeners of the Shenandoah Valley. Ginny was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community.
She is survived by her husband, Weldon Henry Smith whom she married on September 4, 1971, daughter, Megan Gray Smith of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Emma Gray Hartman and Patrick Ellis Hartman both of Richmond, VA; sister, Tracy Shiflett Rosenberger (Shawn) of Clear Brook, VA and her brother, Mark Mountford of Nottinghamshire, England. Ginny’s family was the center of her life, and she instilled values of love, kindness, and generosity in all those she touched.
Virginia is preceded in death by her sister, Karen Shiflett Bauserman.
Ginny’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her giving nature, her sense of humor, and her deep love for those she held dear. Ginny was happiest spending time in a garden, whether it was her own or volunteering. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
