Victor Edward Mitchell
Victor Edward Mitchell, 74, of Frederick County, passed away, Thursday, January 21, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Mitchell was born in 1935 in Indian Valley, Floyd County, Virginia, the son of the late William Price and Bertha Louise Mitchell. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Air Force as Airman First Class and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic. Mr. Mitchell worked with Avtex Fibers for 28 years. He then worked briefly for the State Department in Herndon in the Mail Pouch Facility as a Mail Sorter and then worked for Carquest as a Parts Deliverer. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for twenty-five years, where he served as Deacon. He was also a member of Front Royal Moose Lodge #829 and Strasburg Moose Family Center Lodge #403.
Mr. Mitchell married Susannah Reynolds on September 14, 1963, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife of forty-six years; are two sons, Robert Lee Mitchell and his wife, Kathryn and Glenn William Mitchell, both of Winchester; five grandchildren, Carey Diane Mitchell, Benjamin Price Mitchell, Glenn William Mitchell, Jr., Nicholas Robert Mitchell, and Samuel Aaron Mitchell; four sisters, Betty Miller and Ruth McDonald, both of Strasburg, Katherine Barnhart of Front Royal, and Doris Mitchell of Woodstock; three brothers Clarence Mitchell of Thurmont, Maryland, Richard Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell, both of Front Royal; and his two beloved cats, Smokey and Bandit. A brother, Carl Mitchell, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Rob Lovett and Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Ben Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, Nick Mitchell, Samuel Mitchell, Rick Edwards, Brad Edwards, and Patrick Reynolds.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
