Victor E. “Jeff” Hoover, CMSGT, USAF, Ret.
Victor Emerson “Jeff” Hoover, CMSGT, USAF, Ret., 86, of Winchester, Virginia died Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Hoover was born in 1927 in Hayfield, Virginia, the son of the late Louis and Margaret Hoover. He was a graduate of Gainesboro High School. He was retired from United States Air Force, having served in the wars in both Korea and Vietnam, and achieving the rank of CMSGT E9. He attended Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and was a member of the VFW Post 2123
Mr. Hoover married Helen June (Keller) Hoover on March 23, 1949 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife is a son, Richard Hoover and wife, Wi; four grandchildren, Donnie Mercier, Jr. and wife, Melissa, Jon Hoover, Heather Hirschberg and Melissa Hernandez; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Mercier, Bradley Egloff, Taylor Egloff, Veda Hoover, Hayley Hirschberg, Alexis Benner, Alex Hernandez, Aaron Hernandez, and soon to be born, Emma Grace Mercier, a sister, Betty Oates of Winchester, VA, and his faithful companion T T.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Benner and Linda Gail Jones; a son, Dana Hoover; four sisters, Helen Conley, Maxine Ranolla, Anna Fout and Nina Hoover, and five brothers, Joe Hoover, Austin Hoover, Carl Hoover, Vernon Hoover and Louis C. Hoover, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Tim West officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Mercier, Bradley Egloff, Pastor Tim West, Richard Hoover, Jon Hoover and Donnie Stump.
