Veronica Helen Vanella, 94, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center.
Mrs. Vanella was born in Portage, Pennsylvania, in 1922, the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Seasock. Veronica was a loving wife, mother and grandmother where she devoted her life as a homemaker raising her family. She was passionate about her catholic faith and attended many various Catholic Churches throughout her years, most recently at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Veronica will be forever remembered for her love of family, faith and cooking especially that of her spaghetti and meatballs. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband of 65 years, Joseph A. Vanella, whom she married on January 26, 1946, in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, preceded her in death on October 17, 2011.
Mrs. Vanella is survived by her daughter, Julie Ann and her husband John P. Supko, Sr., of Cross Junction, Virginia; son, Thomas A. and his wife Beth Vanella, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Lauren Marie Supko of Solana Beach, Calfornia and John P. Supko, Jr. of Durham, North Carolina as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters and six brothers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
A reception will follow the funeral Mass at the Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
Memorial contributions in Veronica’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75231 or Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 130 Keating Dr. Winchester, VA 22601.
