Vera Beth “Betty” Oscar Lockley, 83, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mrs. Lockley was born in 1932, in Prosperity, West Virginia, the daughter of Cristopher Lee and Frank Anthony Oscar. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia, Class of 1949. Mrs. Lockley was a homemaker and a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Winchester. Mrs. Lockley was very selfless and always eager to help others. She volunteered to sew at her church for the Baja Mission making tote bags and hats and loved to bake for the church Vacation Bible School.
Surviving are her sons, James Anthony Lockley and wife, Susanna, Cristopher Andrew Lockley and wife, Denise, all of Frederick County, Virginia; daughters, Becky Lyn Harrison and husband, Danny, of Indiantown, Florida, Tina Marie DeHaven and husband, Dwight, of Frederick County, Virginia; step-son, Tommy Lockley of Moorefield, West Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Tina Rakes and husband, Frank, of Beckley, West Virginia; brothers, Frank Lee Oscar and wife, Georgia of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Galen Eugene Oscar of Frederick County, Virginia.
Her sister, Linda Willis, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 6:00 PM at Southside Church of Christ, 3136 Papermill Road, Winchester, Virginia 22601, with Elder Rick Lynch officiating.
