Venelda Clowser Strother, 89, of Stephenson, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Hilltop House, Winchester, Virginia.
Mrs. Strother was born in 1928, in Star Tannery, Virginia, the daughter of the late Carl Edward and Sarah Bell Clowser. She was a homemaker who loved her flowers, gardening, dairy farming, and above all, her family consisting of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Stephenson, Virginia.
Venelda married John Robert Strother on September 22, 1947 in Hagerstown, Maryland. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2015.
Venelda is survived by daughters, Linda Darlene Bell (Ray) of Roanoke, Virginia and Patsy Gail Shewbridge (Dean) of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Lynda Marie, Robert, Brandy, and Robin; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Fay Strother and Peggy Jean Campbell, five sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, May 10th at 10 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery with Pastor Barry Burkholder officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, 3623 Back Mountain Road, Frederick County, Virginia.
