Vance Norwood, 92, of Clearbrook, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Hilltop House in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Norwood was born in 1924 in Winnsboro, South Carolina, the son of the late Vance and Sally Norwood. He graduated from Gaffney High School in South Carolina and was a veteran having served in the United States Army. During his time in the United States Army he served during World War II, and was stationed in Panama. Vance was employed for 45 years with The Macke Company in Washington D.C. Vance was a loving husband, father and friend to many. He will be forever remembered for his love of the outdoors, and his unique storytelling. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Norwood married June Deitz on June 26, 1948 in Washington D.C. Vance and his family lived in Great Falls, Virginia for 30 years and retired to Winchester, Virginia in 1986.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter Lindy Stevens and her husband, Tom of Vienna, Virginia and a sister, Ann Guardino of San Diego, California as well as extended family members and many close friends.
Mr. Norwood was preceded in death by his son, Joel Vance Norwood and two sisters, Mary Louise Skillman and Charlie Mae Edge.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Yung Kim officiating at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Private family interment will be at a later date in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia
