Janet Sherwood Wheatley left a message on February 8, 2018:
I babysat for Vance and Eugene when they were in elementary school. Their Mother was a figure skater and their Dad was a terrific guy. They had just bought their new car when they lost their Father. The boys were always well behaved and a joy to care for My deep sympathy to Eugene and the family. Sounds like Vance really did a lot of good in his life and his parents would have been proud of his accomplishments.
Rick Quinn left a message on January 28, 2018:
Vance and I were good friends all through grammar & high school. We spent many hours building cities in the sand pile with our combined collection of Tonka trucks. We learned to shoot together at the Danvers Fish & Game junior division. In 1963 we graduated as part of the first four year class at Masconomet Regional High School. I remember that Vance was an avid reader of science fiction. He will be missed. RIP Vance.

Vance and I were in the same high school class and I knew his family well since we lived close to one another. I am very sad to learn of his passing and send my sincerest condolences to his family, especially his brother Gene who I also knew very well.
