Turessa “Tess” Mae Kitchen Fox, 95, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at her home.
Ms. Fox was born in 1921 in Stephens City, Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas Wise and Lula Belle Kitchen. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School and received on-the-job training at Winchester Memorial Hospital where she was a Medical Technologist, retiring in 1986. Ms. Fox was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of Winchester Civic League, and the American Society of Medical Technologies. She enjoyed fishing and playing bridge. Ms. Fox was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winchester for 70 years.
Her husband, Elwood Hubert Fox, Sr., whom she married on November 23, 1961 in Winchester, Virginia preceded her in death in 2012.
Surviving are sons, Thomas A. Polhamus of Casa Grande, Arizona and Charles E. Polhamus, Jr. (Debra) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; grandchildren, Tyrone Polhamus, Marcee Gray, and Annie Brown all of Georgia; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Along with her parents and husband, Elwood, she was preceded in death by sister, Mary Virginia Grim; brothers, Charles H., Thomas M., Ollie W., and James W. Kitchen; and first husband, Charles Earle Polhamus, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A committal service will be held at 10 am on Saturday at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia.
