Timothy “Tim” Edward Mossburg, 68, of Gore, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
Tim was born on February 26, 1958, in Frederick, Maryland, to the late Paul and Saundra Mossburg. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from West Virginia Wesleyan College, graduating with the class of 1981. He also received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science in May 1995 from Shepherd College.
Tim dedicated his career to service and technology, proudly serving as a Frederick City, MD Police Officer, United States Park Police Special Forces Unit (SWAT) and then a computer programmer for many years prior to his retirement.
Tim appreciated the simple pleasures of life, whether spending time in nature, kayaking, cooking on the grill, listening to music, or catching up with friends at local favorites like the Backseat Bar and Grill and Texas Roadhouse.
Above all else, he cherished his family and adored his five grandchildren. He devoted his life to his family, always making sure everyone was taken care of & was always there when someone needed him. His loved ones and friends all say Tim was a sweet, calm, generous, and an all-around good man. More than anything he was a loving father and grandfather who always put his kids and grandchildren first.
He is survived by his children, Cassie Mossburg and Chad Mossburg (Megan); his five beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Addison, Logan, Bryce, and Cooper; his brothers, Bill Mossburg and Steve Mossburg; his stepfather, Gerald Palmer; his stepsister, Dawn Rosarius; and his stepbrother, Tim Palmer.
