Thomas W. “Tommy” Nicholson

Thomas Weldon “Tommy” Nicholson, 76, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away, Saturday, August 21, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Nicholson was born in 1934 in Winchester, the son of the late Weldon Sederick and Betty Mae Nicholson. He retired in 1996 as a Brick Layer Foreman from United Masonry of Alexandria, Virginia.

Mr. Nicholson married Doris Ann Miller on June 20, 1953, in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife of fifty-seven years, is a daughter, Gail Anne Pennington of Winchester; two sisters, Judy Puffenburger of Frederick County and Ruby Fultz of Marblehead, Ohio; and a brother, James R. Nicholson of Richmond. Two daughters, Denise Dale Thomas and Karen May Nicholson; and a brother, Albert L. Nicholson, all preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Ken Patrick officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 AM until 1 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

I grew up across the street from Tom Nicholson. He was a pillar of the community in our neighborhood Pimmit Hills. I worked for Mr. Nicholson at United Masonry when I was 16 years old in 1973. He was a great boss. He was was honest and fair and strong but kind and mostly soft spoken but very well respected by all who knew him. He always made me feel a part of his wonderful family. I think about Mr. Nicholson everyday and he will live in my heart forever.
