Thomas Joseph Chasler

Thomas Joseph Chasler of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the age of 61 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Born unto Charles N. Chasler and Frances Barton Chasler on December 11, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom attended Central Catholic High School and Duquesne University, where he earned a B.A. He received his Juris Doctorate at the University of Miami School of Law and then attended New York University Graduate School where he attained a masters degree in law. Since 2004 he served on the Virginia State Bar Seventh District’s Disciplinary Committee. Over the years he held the positions of Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chair on the committee. He was also President of the Winchester-Frederick County Bar Association and served on various other bar committees on the local level.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christina Mary Chasler; daughter Tricia Ann Hounsell, wife to Thomas S. and their children Madison Ann and Thomas M. of Hockessin, DE; daughter Anna Frances Rexrode, wife to Jason W. of Clarke County, VA; son Barton Thomas Chasler of Winchester, VA; brothers Charles D. Chasler, husband to Mary Rose, of Fredonia, NY and James N. Chasler, of Pittsburgh, PA; sister Mary Ann Zajko, wife to Albert of Pittsburgh, PA; three adoptive sisters Claire Zorn of Pittsburgh; Maria Yannayon, wife to Ralph, of Pittsburgh; and Terri McCullough, wife to Lloyd, of Pittsburgh; mother-in-law Anna Toloski of Torrington, CT; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a wise spirit and most loved spending time with his family, friends and two dogs Pepper and Twix. He enjoyed snow skiing, golfing, swimming, hiking and traveling. Not only a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and son-in-law, Tom was a wonderful friend in whom many could always count on. Tom was always the first to make one smile or laugh and also the first to help those in need.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Omps Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 1, from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will include Barton Thomas Chasler, Charles D. Chasler, James N. Chasler, Thomas A. Hounsell, Jason W. Rexrode, Eugene M.
Kalwarski, Richard W. Kalwarski, Timothy J. Considine and Albert Zajko. Honorary Ushers will include Stuart Preston Childress, Benjamin Rezba, Richard Creasy, George VanOsten, John Marino, Glen Rudy, Robert Frogale, Norman Frieze, Richard Garnes, Patrick McTavish, Anthony Klienhans, and Jack Armstrong.
