Thomas Henry Wright, Jr., 77 of Stephens City, VA passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Tom was born in 1944 in Richmond, VA to Thomas Sr. and Bertha Wright. He spent two and a half years at John Wesley College, High Point, NC. Tom was a master electrician and worked in nuclear power as an electrical maintenance planner at plants in Georgia and Maryland. He loved the Lord and ministered through the years in various ways. Tom loved singing and had been a choir director at three churches due to his family moving as his work required. In the 90’s, Tom and his wife Carole ministered to Vietnamese and Amerasian families when they arrived in the United States. He loved carpentry and would spend time building tables, blanket chests and other items for beloved family members and was also an avid reader.
Tom married Carole Jean Pritchett on July 15, 1966 in Cambridge, MD.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Kate Dentel (Dave) of Stephens City, VA, Matthew Emerson of Hurlock, MD, Toby Emerson (Janet) of Hurlock, MD and Robert “Bob” Emerson of Deltona, FL; foster daughter, Lisa Lieu-Nguyen (Duc) of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Matthew, Ben, Robert, Dylan, Toby, Don, Kelly, Nora, and Lauren; great grandchildren, Natalee, Abby, Rosie, Ricky, Gracie, Reece, and Rhett; sisters, Karen Rayne (Michael) of Salisbury, MD and Gloria Wright of Wilmington, NC; brothers, Jack Wright (Xiang) of Salisbury, MD, Steve Wright of Tallahassee, FL and Richard Wright of Burlington, VT.
Along with his parents, Tom is preceded in death by son Ben Emerson.
A family gathering to celebrate Tom’s life was held on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
