Thomas Gordon Helmick, 74 of Winchester, VA passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his home.
Tommy was born in 1948 in Paw Paw, WV the son of the late Heuy Helmick and Norma Bryson. He served our country during the Vietnam War, serving 2 tours of duty in the United States Army, served in the National Guard and retired as a fence builder for CVL Fencing. Tommy loved sleeping in his favorite chair, watching WWE, Westerns, Gold Rush, Sci-Fi movies. He also loved fishing and hunting. Tommy’s dog Cash taught Atreyu how to walk.
He married Deborah Foster on April 2, 1977 in Frederick County, VA.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Katie Burton of Winchester, VA and Lisa Smith of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Wyatt Breeden of Winchester, VA, Atreyu Barley of Winchester, VA, Autumn Sites of Lovettsville, VA, Stephen Smith of Stephenson, VA, Alexander Caltrider of Stephens City, VA, Thomas Braithwaite of Stephens City and Saidy Caltrider of Winchester, VA; seven great-grandchildren; canine companions, Zoey, Chester, Lil Bit, Buttons, Macey, Screech, and Rescue and sister, Helen Horton of Winchester, VA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta Haines and canine companion, Cash.
A visitation will be Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm with a service to follow on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Culpeper National Cemetery.
