Thomas C. “Tommy” Pollack
Thomas Craig Pollack, 51, of Winchester, Virginia, formally of East Brunswick, New Jersey, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in 1960 in Bronx, NY, the son of Stanley and Helen Pollack of East Brunswick, NJ. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. Tom married Patty Bedle Pollack on April 16, 1983 in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
He was formerly employed with Melnor Industries of New Jersey and Winchester, VA. After leaving Melnor, he owned and operated Hometown Video & Tanning in Mt. Jackson, Virginia.
Tom was a girls’ basketball coach at both James Wood Middle School and James Wood High School for many years. He began his basketball coaching career for Frederick County Parks and Recreation. He also coached Little League Baseball for Frederick County and the Winchester Babe Ruth League. He was a member of the Virginia High School Coaches Association and was an avid New York sports team fan.
Surviving with his wife and his parents is a daughter, Jillian Pollack of Arlington, VA; a son, Craig Pollack of Winchester, VA, and two sisters, Kathy Pollack of East Brunswick, NJ, and Joan Freehauf of Stockton, NJ.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Cameron Keyser officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Craig Pollack, Bill Bedle, Bill Munson, Keith Freehauf, Ed Lucid, and Dave Marker.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6th, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
