Talbert Foster DeHaven, Sr., 87 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his home.
Talbert was born in 1936 in Frederick County, VA, the son of the late Beecher and Elsie Mae DeHaven. He worked as a mechanic for Shade Equipment, was owner/operator of DeHaven Trucking and retired as maintenance foreman for Abex Corporation. Talbert loved sitting in his gazebo, feeding the deer and watching the wild turkeys. He also enjoyed riding his tractors and cutting wood.
He married the love of his life Joyce Ann Bishop on July 30, 1955, and she preceded him in death on August 22, 2020.
Talbert is survived by his children, Talbert DeHaven, Jr., Laurie Wilkey (Charlie) and Richard DeHaven (Norie) and John DeHaven; grandchildren, Talbert III, Lindsey, Jacob, Bryan, Rebekah, Daniel and Bethany and several great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sister, Audrey and his brothers, Austin, Ellsworth, Raymond, Robert and William.
A visitation will be held for Talbert on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm with a service to be conducted the following day, Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
