Susan Ty Masters, 70, of Winchester, Virginia passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at her home at The Village at Orchard Ridge.
Susan was born in 1949 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of the late Carl and Marie Aleta Masters. She was very proud to have attended and graduated from Texas A&M University where she earned a Master’s degree in Sociology. Susan retired from the Department of Customs in Springfield, Virginia, where she worked in administration. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Manassas, Virginia and also attended the Nativity Lutheran Church in Alexandria. She enjoyed knitting and was quite prolific at it. Susan was very interested in her heritage and her family’s genealogy. Susan’s faith, churches, and her family were at the center of her life.
Susan is survived by her former husband, Loyd George Coonrod, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; daughter, Christine Marie Coonrod of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; son, Loyd G. “Trey” Coonrod, III and his wife, Rachael, of Alexandria, Virginia; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at The Village at Orchard Ridge on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at 2 pm with Pastor Terry Hannon officiating.
