Susan Adele Redmon Conner, 67, of Stephens City, VA, passed from this life to the next on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at her home, with her family by her side, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Susan was born on November 18, 1948, in Front Royal, Virginia, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lucille Ramey Redmon. She was a 1967 graduate of John S. Mosby Academy. Susan worked for the federal government near Berryville, VA, for over thirty-seven years until her retirement in 2008. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and attended Refuge UMC and Macedonia UMC in Frederick County, VA.
Susan enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling, and she also loved flowers. Susan was a member of the Women of the Moose, United Methodist Women, and N.A.R.F.E.
She married Austin Guy Conner on March 25, 1972, in Warren County, Virginia.
Susan is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Austin Guy Conner, of Stephens City, VA; a daughter, Robin S. Conner, of Decatur, GA; three sisters, Evelyn Henry, of Martinsburg, WV; Gladys Yawornicky, of Springfield, VA; and Nina Burke, of Warren County, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Kenneth Ray Redmon, of Alexandria, VA, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 7:00-9:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastors Mike Mayton and John Lock officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Dale Ballenger, David Ballenger, Jonah Ballenger, Marshall L. Shiley, Marshall Shiley, Sr., and Mark Yawornicky. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlyle Jones and Eric Ignaszewski.
