Steven Eugene Shoemaker departed this green earth at home on July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving, two legged and four-legged family members.
Steve was pre-deceased by his parents, Rita Schneider Shoemaker and Owen Stanley Shoemaker Junior, as well as his brothers, Owen Stanley Shoemaker III and Ed S. Shoemaker.
Steve is survived by his wife, Beverley Bowman Shoemaker, daughter Rachel Elizabeth Shoemaker and son-in-law Blake C. Perry of Stephens City, sister, Stacey L. Davis, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Shoemaker of Charleston, SC.
Steve was born on November 27, 1952, in Washington DC and moved to Winchester as a child. He attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from James Wood High School in 1971. He also attended Virginia Tech.
Steve was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved archery, black powder, and rifle hunting, as well as surf and deep-sea fishing. He was an avid gardener, producing a bounty of vegetables to share with friends. Steve was a life-time member of the NRA and belonged to the Pope and Young Club.
Services will be held at Omps Funeral home, Amherst campus, on July 22, 2025. Visitation is at 9:00AM with the service at 10:00AM. A private graveside service will be conducted at Green Hill Cemetery in Stephens City. Rev. C. Steve Melester will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Blake Curtis, Mike Feaster, Lee Johnson, Bucky McCarty, Bob Mowery and John Welch.
