Stephen Tyler Griffitt 46, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home.

Stephen was born in 1974 in Independence, Missouri to Harvey Lee and Marjorie Ann Griffitt. He attended St. Mary’s High School, Independence, Missouri. Stephen recently joined a Jiu-jitsu academy and was heavily involved with MMA fighting and had a national ranking. He was involved with WWII reenacting, took flying lessons, and loved music – especially heavy metal and Pantera.
Stephen had the opportunity to meet his idols, Dimebag Darrell and Steve Vai and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He played various sports when he was younger, practiced yoga and meditation every day. Stephen played a vital role with raising his children and was a great father, introducing them to many loves that they would share together (karate, travelling, guitar, and piano).

Stephen married his “Brazilian Beauty” Alessandra Gomes Pimentel on June 26, 2010 in Ibiuna, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Surviving with his wife and parents are his children, Vienna Meredith Griffitt of Stephens City, VA, Gavin Benjamin Griffitt of Raytown, MO, Braeden Tyler Griffitt of Raytown, MO, Vando Stephen Griffitt of Stephens City, VA and Alexander Lee Carter Griffitt; brothers, Jeffery Griffitt of Olathe, KS, Michael Griffitt of Independence, Mo and Derek Haug of Kansas City, Mo.

All services for Stephen will be private.

He was a lifelong friend of 30-plus years. We met when we were 15. Chile was the epitome of kool. He had the looks, the ladies all swoon over him. He played guitar, and he was a martial artist. He always stayed humble true to who he was. The ladies wanted to be with him and guys wanted to be like him, but everyone wanted to be close and near to him. I was one of the few who got to be close and near to him all of my memories are good and fond of him. He was a friend a brother and a loved one. My head is found with his memories but my heart is aching for his loss. I will truly miss him and always remember him! Now him and Dimebag can finally Jam together and talk about booze,babes, and metal. Love and miss you brother!??

I have no words that will bring you back, but just know you will be missed every single day. You had an amazingly huge impact on my life and made me look, well listen to music so much differently. You and your family were so welcoming to me. You also will always be credited for teaching us the “right way” to eat grilled crab. My heart and thoughts go out to your family and children.

I would like to offer you and your family our deepest and most sincere condolences and may the soul of Stephen rest in peace. I will never forget his kindness. May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain.

Stephen will always have a special place in my heart, he gave me two beautiful sons and he gave them a beautiful, loving stepmom and three additional siblings. My condolences and love go out to his entire family and friends. Stephen always wanted the power to fly, Stephen you are flying now! Your wife and I will continue to love and protect all of your babies as you would have here while we know you are protecting from above. Fly with the angels.
