Stephen M. Rosenberger
Stephen Maynard Rosenberger, 85, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, January 11, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Rosenberger was born in 1924, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late John H. and Nan Rosenberger. He was employed by John W. Rosenberger & Co, Inc. in 1946 as a truck driver, becoming President in 1972 and later served as Chairman of the Board until its closing in 1997. He was owner and operator of Furnace Farm and also worked as a local artist for many years. Mr. Rosenberger was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and was a founding member and past president of the Winchester Exchange Club. He was active in the Winchester-Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Winchester Parking Authority and a member of the Winchester Planning Commission, having served as its chairman. Mr. Rosenberger volunteered with the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. He was a graduate of John Handley High School Class of 1942, and attended Virginia Tech until he was called to serve in World War II. Mr. Rosenberger was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946.
His wife, Jane Over Rosenberger, whom he married on December 28, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia, preceded him in death on September 19, 1997.
Surviving are his son, John Rosenberger of Winchester, Virginia; daughter, Jane Wever and her husband, Robert of Winchester, Virginia; and his grandson, Daniel Wever. He is preceded in death by two infant brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church with Reverend James A. Hewitt III officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ted Whittle, Dick Shimer, Jim Green, Thomas D. Rosenberger, Major Bob Wolford, Don Netschke, Conley Ramey and Chris DeWein.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Winchester Exchange Club.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
