Stephen H. Lake
Stephen H. Lake, 64, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Lake was born in 1949, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Mallaveene Lake and the late Jack H. Lake. He was a graduate of Handley High School, Class of 1968. Mr. Lake was a Veteran having served as a Petty Officer in the US Navy during Vietnam. He was employed by FEMA as an Analyst at Mt. Weather. Mr. Lake was an avid golfer and Redskins fan. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #867 and the Moose Lodge #1283. Mr. Lake was a past member of South End Fire Company. He loved music, dancing, fishing and traveling, especially to Ocean City. He had an incredible sense of humor. Mr. Lake was proud of his service in the US Navy as well as the time spent playing football for Handley High School.
Surviving with his fiancé, Carol O’Leary, are her two daughters Kathryn Chafi and husband, Amine, of Richmond, Virginia, and Sarah O’Leary of Richmond, Virginia, her son, Edward O’Leary, III and wife, Brandi, of Richmond, Virginia; Mr. Lake’s brother, Jack Lake and wife, Mary, of Stephens City, Virginia; a sister, Gail Lucas and husband, Jay, of Winchester, Virginia; four nephews, Jesse Lake and wife, Tara, of Ashburn, Virginia, Jedediah Lake and wife, Leigh Anne, of Herndon, Virginia, Jason Lake and wife, Vicki, of Inwood, West Virginia, and Jacob Lucas of Winchester, Virginia; and a niece Anna Schey and husband, Nick, of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, Virginia.
