Stanley Joseph Perch
Stanley Joseph Perch, age 78, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Perch was born in Strathclair, Manitoba, Canada, the son of the late Joseph and Olga Perch. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Toronto where he received his Certified Public Accountant’s degree and admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accounts in 1966. In 1967 he joined the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Washington, D.C. in the Treasurer’s Department as Section Chief. He moved to the Controller’s Office where he was appointed to various positions: Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief – Loan Division, Adviser in Accounting Systems, Division Chief in Disbursements Division, and Division Chief of the Administrative Expense Division, Division Chief-Accounting Division, Director and Assistant Controller of the Loan Department, Senior Advisor-Program Coordination, office of Senior VP of Finance, Deputy Director of the World Bank Tokyo Office, and Division Chief-Actuarial and Pension Benefits Division, Pension Fund. He retired in Sept. of 1990 after 23 years of service. After his retirement from the World Bank, he was appointed Deputy Manager, Accounting and Cashier’s, Sub-Department at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) where he worked from 1990 until 1993.
Mr. Perch was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, and a member of the Senior Bowling League for 11 years.
He married Eleanora Florence Demarski in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on May 21, 1953.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Christine Newby and son-in-law Richard A. Newby, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia, a son, James Stanley Perch of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and one grandchild, Richard A. Newby, III of Winchester, Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley Krempa officiating.
