Simon Peter Newlin, 86 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his home.
Simon was born in 1937 in Clarke County, VA, the son of the late Simon Peter Newlin, Sr. and Myrtle Newlin. He was a graduate of Clarke County High School and served our country in the Army National Guard. He retired in 2021 as owner/operator of Shenandoah Sand. Simon was a member of Burnt Factory Church. Simon enjoyed getting together with his Bible study group. He loved sharing his testimony of his Love of God to everyone he came across and his enthusiasm for life and his family. Simon was a member of the Winchester Gun Club, an avid golfer and loved traveling with family and friends. He was a car enthusiast who loved his antique cars and going to Car Shows with his son and grandson. As a business owner he was very instrumental in the community and community service projects and took a lot of pride in his work, creating a very successful business.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria “Vicki” whom he married on September 15, 1979, son, Jeffrey Newlin (Wife – Jeanne); daughter, Jetta Willingham; grandchildren, Bryce Newlin and Sarah Newlin (Husband – Fisher); daughter-in-law, Destiny Newlin and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, cousins and many dear friends that were like family, especially Glen Wilder.
Simon is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janet Shands; brother, Mitchell Lee Newlin and dear family member, Grant Affleck.
A visitation will be held for Simon on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10am to 12pm with a service to be conducted at 12pm all at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 12pm in Mount Hebron. Rev. Steve Melester will be officiating.
