Sidney R. Carbaugh
Sidney Rhodes Carbaugh, age 80, of Winchester, VA, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Carbaugh was born in 1933 in Stephens City, VA, the son of the late James P. Carbaugh,
Sr. and Margie Carbaugh. He was a clerk for the United States Postal Service from 1964 until 2001 when he retired. After retirement he worked part time for Home Instead as a caretaker. Mr. Carbaugh was a member of Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church and the American Legion, Conrad Hoover Post # 21 of Winchester, VA. He was a 1952 graduate of James Wood High School and Lord Fairfax Community College with an Associate Degree in Accounting. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
He married Barbara Dusing on November 27, 1961, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Theresa Lynn Coffelt and husband, Timothy of Charleston, South Carolina, son Scott Alan Carbaugh and wife, Trudy of Dublin Georgia, three grandchildren Megan Meyers and Courtney Coffelt of Charleston, South Carolina and Samantha Carbaugh of Dublin, Georgia, one great granddaughter, and brothers James P. Carbaugh, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia and Stanley Carbaugh of Stephens City, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marguerite Carbaugh.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Jack Wampler, Sr. and Pastor Hartley Wigfield officiating. Interment at Mt. Hebron Cemetery will be private at a later date.
