Shirley Maye Bayliss Plummer, 81, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Spring Arbor in Winchester.
Shirley was born in 1942 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of Carl and Vergie Bayliss. She was a graduate of James Wood High School in Winchester. Shirley formerly attended Woodbine Assembly of God Church. She retired in 2018 as a real estate broker for Crum Realty in Winchester. Before becoming a real estate agent, Shirley sold Avon, where she became a member of the Presidents Club. She also loved tending to her garden.
She married Samuel Edward “Sam” Plummer, Sr. in 1958 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2014.
Shirley is survived by her children, Debbra Lynn Sandy (Timothy), Trina Shawn Lockhart, and Samuel Edward Plummer, Jr.; grandchildren, Michelle Broadstreet, Timothy Sandy, Jr., Hunter Sandy, Christian Woods, Breanna Lockhart, and Samuel E. Plummer, III; great-grandchildren, Carter Sandy, and Keelie Broadstreet and her brother, Charles Bayliss.
Along with her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Rinker and Mary Lou Mallow; and her brothers, Eugene, Robert, James, Phillip, and Donald Bayliss.
A visitation will be held for Shirley on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11am, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shirley to a charity of the donor’s choice.
