Shirley Lenore Yost, 87, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at The Culpeper in Culpeper, VA.

Shirley was born in 1935 in Mannington, WV, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Martha Thomas. After graduating high school, she attended Fairmont College (now Fairmont State University) in Fairmont, WV. She and her husband were owners of Fort Loudoun Restaurant and “Make and Make Believe” Toy Store in Winchester. Shirley was a member of Galilee Christian Church in Clear Brook, VA.

She married Robert Bert Yost on April 10, 1954, in Mannington, WV. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2015.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Barbara Kettlewell (John Kettlewell Jr.) of Spotsylvania, VA, Genene Lynn Elliott of Loudoun County, VA; son, Robert Allen Yost (Stacy Oates) of Winchester, VA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchild; and sister, Frances Skinner (Bob Skinner) of Mannington, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, James Thomas.

A visitation will be held for Shirley at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 12pm; followed by a service at 1pm at the South Chapel. Entombment in Shenandoah Memorial Park will follow the service. The officiate will be Rev. Donald Moulden.
