Dear Cary, Irene, and Family: Sincere condolences on the passing of your mom and sister. Shirley was a remarkable woman who exuded class, dignity, and pride in Handley High School and Longwood University. I grew up right around the corner from where Shirley lived on Boyd Avenue. She was a fantastic role model as a cheerleader and also as Salutatorian of the class of 1954. She and her late husband, Dr. Hunter Gaunt, were dear friends for Emily and me, and we cherish the memories of the good times we shared. Shirley was truly one of Handley’s best. Rest in peace, dear friend, as you are reunited with your dear Hunter. Please know we are thinking of you and have you in our thoughts and prayers. God bless and go Judges! Your friends, Russ and Emily Potts
