Shirley Ann DeHaven, 57, of Winchester, Virginia died Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Winchester Medical Center.

            Mrs. DeHaven was born 1956 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Russell and Pauline Dodson.

             She was married to Delmer DeHaven, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1997.

            Surviving is a son, Manny DeHaven, and wife, Jennifer DeHaven; two grandchildren, Max DeHaven and Koby DeHaven, both of Winchester; a sister. Brenda Holliday, of Stephens City, VA and a brother, Ricky Dodson, of Middletown, VA.

            A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Shenandoah Memorial Park with Pastor Eric Ferrell.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Manny and Jennifer DeHaven.

I just learned of Shirley's passing. I am heartbroken. She and I lost touch over the years. When she had the shop Cesura, I was her next door neighbor. We spent much time sitting and gabbing. Folding clothes. Sorting. Oohing and Aahing over her finds. Or we'd sit on the bench in front of the shop or my front porch. I think of her often. I'm listening to Dido. That's what brought her to mind. Shirley like Dido's music and lyrics. Dido's rhythmic style was discussed, and the word "cesura" (sp. caesure). It felt like the right name for her shop. Thank you for allowing me a moment to one of the many memories I have of her. My very tardy condolences to you all. She touched many hearts.
