Sherry Loraine Mitchell, 62 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Sherry was born in 1961 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Dallas Dudding and Maryellen Ghandour. In 1974, she graduated from Chantilly High School. After a joyful and fulfilling life, she retired to the beautiful mountains of Shenandoah Valley in 2021, in the comfort of her very first home. Sherry was a school bus driver for Loudoun County Public Schools and worked for Frederick County Parks & Rec, she loved working with children. Her hobbies consisted of crafting, gardening, crocheting, writing, a wide range of music and raising many chickens. Finding enjoyment in the outdoors, she was constantly doing outside activities and loved going to the beach, especially Colonial Beach. She was an avid football fan, specifically for the Dallas Cowboys. Most of all, Sherry loved her family. They meant the world to her, and she cherished each connection that she had until her final rest.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Randall Mitchell, whom she married on April 1, 1978; daughters, Lori Portillo, Angela Mitchell and Lynzy Mitchell; son, Alvin “A.J.” Mitchell, Jr.; grandchildren, Jason, Jada, Malikai, Xzavier and Landen; sister, Pamela Mitchell and her brother, Dallas Dudding, Sr.
A service will be held for Sherry on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 5pm with a reception to follow, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
