Sherri Lyn Dusing Castleman, 58, of Inwood, WV, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Hospice of the Panhandle.

Sherri was born in 1968 in Winchester, VA, daughter of the late Gerald Dusing, Sr. and Janie Mae Dusing. She was a graduate of Musselman High School, Class of 1986. Sherri worked as a floral designer at Inwood Florist & Gifts. She made the decision to further her education by attending Blue Ridge Community College, earning a Bachelors degree in IT, while working two jobs to provide for her daughter, Brittany, whom she devoted her life to. Through all her hard work she remained on the Dean and President’s lists while earning her degree. At the present time she was employed as an IT Specialist with the Department of Veteran Affairs, Cybersecurity Operations Center. She was very dedicated to her career and just loved life and worked hard.

Sherri had a spiritual and intimate relationship with God which she shared with others. She was dedicated to her family and friends; loved reading, attending concerts, house projects, maintaining her yard and property, traditional and antique items that held sentimental value, going to the beach and traveling (especially with her friend, Julie Feltner). Sherri always enjoyed visiting with friends for some good laughs and just having fun.

Sherri took great pride in her appearance, held high morals, and thought it only proper to act like a lady. She was always accessorized with a designer purse, a smile on her face with a heart of gold and vivacious spirit. Sherri never met a stranger.

Being naturally creative throughout her life she created a warm and loving home for her and Brittany.

Surviving is her beloved daughter, Brittany Castleman (Zachary Nester) of Inwood, WV; niece, Savannah Dusing; and nephew, Austin Dusing.

Along with her parents, Sherri was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald “Dougie” “Pooh” Dusing, Jr.; sister, Barbara Jane Dusing; and Brittany’s father, Travis S. Castleman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I’m so sorry to hear about Sherry. I can’t believe it. She was awesome. I worked with her for many years and then we belong to the same gym and worked out together for a while. please let me know when the memorial service will be again. I’m so sorry.

Brittany & Zach - I’m so sorry and hold you close in prayers that God will bring you comfort!! I’m sure there was an amazing reunion in heaven! My earliest memories include Sherri, with only a few months between us. I am so blessed for the long phone call just a few weeks ago with her and the laughs and stories we shared. We may have been grieving together over another family member but it reconnected us in a way that makes me eternal thankful! Rest in peace cousin! You will be greatly missed!!

I worked with Sherri at the VA. She was a wonderful kind soul. She always showed me lots of kindness and understanding. I know she will be sorely missed at the VA and by her family and friends. My biggest regret is that we did not get too work together for longer. She will be missed by everyone she interacted with. My condolences too your family. May you rest in Peace.

To Sherri, her family & friends; please accept my sincere condolences as Sherri's journey ended so soon. I had the pleasure of working alongside her in the recent years and it should be known that she had just as much dedication, if not more, to the success of our work. Even while maintaining a wonderful environment to be around. And thank you, for trusting me to be amongst your peers to work alongside the efforts we had started together. Rest in peace, Sherri.
